PantaCal

Cookies

Last updated October 11, 2026

PantaCal uses a handful of cookies and browser settings, all of them to make the site work or remember a choice you made. None are for advertising, analytics or tracking, and none are set by other companies' scripts.

Cookies

  • sb-…-auth-token

Keeps you signed in. Set by our sign-in provider, Supabase.

How long: Until you sign out, or about a year

  • pc_school

Remembers which school you picked, so the site shows its colors and copy before you sign in.

    How long: 1 year

  • pc_invite

Only if you used the close-friend password: lets that browser reach sign-up while sign-up is invite-only. Stores a scrambled token, not the password.

    How long: 90 days

Saved in your browser

These live in your browser's local storage. They aren't sent to us and hold no personal information, only a choice or a “seen it” flag.

  • theme

    Light or dark mode.

How long: Until you clear it

  • pc.seenVersion

The last What’s new you saw, so the dot goes away.

How long: Until you clear it

  • pc.reviewSeen.<date>

That you’ve seen this week’s review on your phone.

How long: Until you clear it

  • spartancal.setupChecklistDismissed

That you closed the setup checklist.

How long: Until you clear it

  • pantacal.installCardDismissed

That you closed the Add to Home Screen card.

How long: Until you clear it

  • pantacal.pushCardDismissed

That you closed the notifications card.

How long: Until you clear it

  • pantacal.phoneSetupSnoozedUntil

When to show the phone setup walkthrough again, if you tapped Not now.

How long: Until you clear it

  • pantacal.phoneSetupShown

That the walkthrough already showed this visit.

How long: Until you close the tab

  • pantacal.checkinsNextAt

When the check-in cards may show again on your phone, so they don't pop up every time you open the app.

How long: Until you clear it

  • pantacal.pastWorkReviewed

That you answered “Did you miss any of these?” on Assignments, so it isn’t asked again. Your account keeps the same answer.

How long: Until you clear it

  • pantacal.pastWorkNotNow

That you tapped Not now on “Did you miss any of these?”, so it stays closed this visit. Your account puts it off a week.

How long: Until you close the tab

  • pantacal.calendar.*

What you chose to show or hide on your calendar: calendars, weekly commitments and office hours.

How long: Until you clear it

  • pantacal.submitAsks

Which past-due assignments you said you haven't handed in yet, so the check-in cards ask again the next day, and at most twice.

How long: Until you clear it (forgotten after two weeks)

  • pantacal.syllabusNudgeUntil

When you said “Not now” to the card on Assignments about uploading your syllabi, so it stays away for two weeks.

How long: Until you clear it

  • pantacal.syllabiSyncedAt

When this tab last brought your classes’ syllabus dates in, so it asks at most once a minute.

How long: Until you close the tab

  • pantacal.toursSeen

Which page tips you’ve already seen, so each one shows only once. Your account keeps the same list, so the Home Screen app doesn’t repeat them.

How long: Until you clear it

Notifications

If you turn on notifications, your browser installs a small helper (a service worker) from PantaCal that shows them and opens the app when you tap one. It doesn't cache pages or watch what you do. Turning notifications off in Settings, or removing PantaCal from your home screen, removes it.

Why there's no cookie banner

Cookie banners exist to ask permission for cookies a site doesn't strictly need, like analytics and advertising. Everything above either keeps the site working (signing in) or remembers something you chose (your school, dark mode). Privacy rules treat both as exempt from consent, so there's nothing to ask. If we ever add anything that isn't in these two groups, we'll ask you first and list it here.

Clearing them

Signing out removes the sign-in cookie. You can clear the rest in your browser's settings at any time. PantaCal still works, it just forgets your school and display choices.
